New CD Released
Building, the group’s 4th CD of works for percussion quartet, is now available.  The four works on Building are recent commissions by the ensemble, and they reflect Ethos’ interest in a variety of musical styles and global percussion traditions while remaining firmly grounded in the Western chamber music idiom.  They also sound great and are very fun to listen to.

Ethos in Esquire Magazine
Ethos is featured (along with such artists as Joshua Bell and Daniel Bernard Roumain) as musicians who are “redefining classical music… for the twenty-first century” in the May 2008 issue of Esquire.  Check out the picture on the Esquire site and decide for yourself: Who has the craziest hair?  Who has the fanciest tux?

Ethos in Residence at Lehman College
Ethos is excited to be part of a new degree program being developed at New York City’s Lehman College.  The percussion department at Lehman is led by Morris Lang (NY Philharmonic, PAS Hall of Fame), a great teacher and longtime advocate of world music.  Lehman is planning to offer a degree in world percussion performance, and Ethos will serve as the program’s Ensemble in Residence.

Jerome Funding Continues
The Jerome Foundation has renewed its support of Ethos’ commissioning program.  The latest grant from the foundation will fund three new works that will be premiered during the 2008-09 concert season.  Ethos has commissioned and premiered over two dozen works in the last ten years, and without support from the Jerome Foundation this would not have been possible.  Many thanks to all at the Foundation.
